BIOGRAPE

We asked BIOGRAPE, a producer of white and sparkling wines from the Bucelas region, to explain its essence.

BIO

We are what we eat and drink and that is why we must respect our bodies, making choices that make sense for our well-being and the balance of the planet. We believe that the land gives us back everything we give it and that is why we must use it with respect. Only in this way is it possible to produce superior quality products. For all these reasons, we believe that the future of agriculture involves a return to the past and a different relationship with the land, which is the support for everything we produce.

BUCELAS

We produce our white and sparkling wines in Bucelas.

In the Trancão river valley, north of Lisbon, this Demarcated Region has produced, since 1911, unique wines in small quantities, much like the regions of Carcavelos and Colares do.

The clay and limestone soils produce white wines with a citrus colour, a fruity flavour and aroma, and an acidity very typical of this region's favourite variety, Arinto. The high quality sparkling wines are golden yellow, with a very fruity aroma and flavour, fresh, and with a fine and persistent bubble.

Wine production in this region dates back to the Roman era, but international fame came after the Duke of Wellington discovered its excellence during the Peninsular War. It was thanks to him that large quantities of wine began to be exported to the United Kingdom, where it became quite popular, particularly in London.

(À PARTE) (‘Apart’)

Born in a land "apart", this is the wine that, after much dedication, our vines gave us. It grew in the winery, in flavour and in a natural way, but with all our time and dedication. It is a wine created with pleasure to taste with pleasure. A different wine, because as each one of us is unique, it is… apart.
